We all know that these Castro hats are sold to tourists in Cuba. A couple of days ago I noticed that beer can tabs are used for closure. It made me think of how we recycle everything in Cuba, from plastic bags and glass jars to clothing and furniture. This is not the first time I see beer or cola cans used for craft or decorative purposes. One of my friends bought a really cute purse made of can tabs. I am waiting to go to Cuba to get a green one made of Cristal beer cans! I am even willing to drink all these beers myself if necessary. 😀

Here is a picture of the purses that I got from the images search on internet:

Also, some little toys (airplanes, cars) can be found in the street market for kids. I have seen ashtrays, cameras and other creations that could be fun and unique for a souvenir.

Hello. I just found your page. I’ve been to cuba twice on vacations, my parents multiple times. I love visiting there its a fantastic place and Cuban people are lovely! If you happen to come across the cameras that are made out of cans can you post it- i’m trying to find a pic of one to show a friend as she is a photographer. I look forward to going through and reading all your posts!
