Sugar Cane Juice a.k.a Guarapo
Categories: TorontoNTERO

Now that the weather is getting “human” I started remembering all the summer  belly pleasures and began thinking of a fresh cold guarapo.

Pronto!

In Toronto I have seen sugar cane juice in China Town (Spadina St), pressed right in front of you and in some Caribbean festivals during the summer. Also, in some  Chinese stores I have purchased juice-box type sugar cane juice.

Being a kid the excitement was not really to drink the juice but actually see the whole process of crunching the cane and serving the juice. 🙂

If you never tried it before I recommend it. It has the right amount of sweetness with a light, refreshing flavour, perfectly drinkable at anytime of the day. Some people prepare Mojito with sugar cane juice and apparently it is really good as well.

I wish I had one now…
